Privacy Policy

1. Data We Collect

SalaryCalc is a client-side salary calculator. All salary figures you enter are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to our servers. We do not collect, store, or have access to the salary, tax, or financial data you enter into the calculator.

We automatically collect limited, non-personal data through analytics and advertising services described below, including:

• Pages visited and approximate time spent on the site
• Referring URL, browser type, operating system, and screen resolution
• Approximate geographic location (country/city level, derived from IP address)
• Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)

Your IP address may be temporarily processed by third-party analytics and advertising services listed in Section 4. We do not store IP addresses ourselves.

2. How We Use Data

The non-personal data described above is used solely to:

• Understand which country calculators are most used so we can prioritise updates
• Monitor site performance and fix technical issues
• Display relevant advertising to support the free service

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

3. Cookies & Tracking

We load Google Analytics 4 only after you grant Analytics consent. When granted, GA4 sets _ga and _ga_* cookies to measure aggregated, anonymous site usage. Before consent, no analytics or advertising cookies are set — the calculator works normally either way.

Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, which we use to monitor performance, are cookieless and do not require consent.

Consent categories

• Necessary — required for the calculator, currency selection, and remembering your cookie choice. Always on.
• Analytics — Google Analytics 4 usage measurement. Off by default.
• Advertising — personalised ads from Google AdSense and affiliate partners. Off by default and not yet active; reserved for future use.

You can withdraw or change consent at any time. Doing so updates Google Consent Mode v2 immediately and stops further analytics or advertising tags from firing.

You may also opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or control cookies through your browser settings.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics — web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyse how visitors use the site. Data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google AdSense — advertising service provided by Google LLC. AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
• Vercel — hosting and deployment platform. Vercel may process server logs containing IP addresses. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

5. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict the processing of your data
• Data portability
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

Since we do not collect personal salary data and only process anonymous analytics, the scope of data we hold is limited to what is described in Section 1.

6. Data Retention

Analytics data is retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, after which it is automatically deleted. We do not maintain any separate database of user data.

7. Children's Privacy

SalaryCalc is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
